The Los Angeles Rams will begin defense of their NFC West title when they play the Arizona Cardinals at the Coliseum in Week 2. LA, fresh from a 33-13 win over the Oakland Raiders, have an opportunity to accomplish more than just a win inside the division.

For instance it’s another opportunity to work on some of the timing issues that were so elusive for Rams quarterback Jared Goff. Be it forcing the football in close coverage, missing on the long ball, or simply looking rusty and out-of-sync, Goff needs to and will be better against the Cardinals.

It’s also the first chance to establish a foothold in the NFC West, a division they are not just looking to win, but are clearly expected to. The Cardinals are the first team the Rams will face to to help make that point.

This will also be a game that helps balance out what is always a Week 1 over overreaction, and under reaction.

Are the Rams as good as their 33-13 win against the Raiders?
Are the Cardinals as hapless as their 24-6 loss to the Washington Redskins?

Week 2 for Los Angeles might not clear everything up, but it will be a good start.

The Cardinals (0-1) are coming off a loss to the Washington Redskins in the season opener. The Rams (1-0) are coming off a road win at the Oakland Raiders last Monday night.

Many fans have written off the Cardinals and their chances on Sunday. However, they still have to play the game. Don’t expect the Cardinals to come out as flat as they did in week one.

That doesn’t mean they will win, it’s a tough challenge with the high-powered offense led by quarterback Jared Goff and running back Todd Gurley. They also have a pretty darn good defense.

Despite what the lines in Las Vegas say, the Cardinals, have reasons to believe they can win on Sunday. Here are three of them.
